PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Self-Contained Certified Nurses Assistant CNA/Instructional Aide will support students with severe to profound disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting. This role requires providing both health-related care and instructional assistance, ensuring students' safety, well-being, and active participation in educational activities. The aide will work closely with the teacher and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral interventions. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

High School diploma or GED

Must be certified in CPR, first aid and AED

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of basic first aid and cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills

Ability to use personal computer and software to develop databases and do word processing

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

Ability to work well with children

Ability to work with children of disabilities

Patient and calm demeanor with students and others

Ability to communicate effectively

Basic academic skills

 

Experience:

Preferred one year experience in health-related position, including contact with school-age children
